How are my illustrations created?
All illustrations are hand drawn on paper, and then are digitally colored at the final art stage.
Who owns the copyright to the illustrations? You do.
You own all rights to your book, when final payment for the illustrations is received.
What is the payment process?
There are 3 equal installment payments throughout the illustration process.
I have a small budget for the illustrations can you work with me?
No problem. I can look at your story and budget, and if possible, offer a way to create just enough artwork to illustrate the story.
Iím still not clear on how to divide up my text and on how many pages Iíll need.
Yes, Iíd be happy to look over your text, and offer suggestions on how to best lay out the book. When asking for a quote, let me know how I can help you.
What size should my book be?
There are industry standard book sizes that I recommend.
How long will it take to illustrate my book?
There are several variables including the number of illustrations, how many other book illustrations are being created, a standard 32-page book can take 8 to 12 weeks. When I provide you a quote, I will also provide you with an estimate and time frame for your project.
Can I ask for changes as you work on my illustrations?
You are allowed two free rounds of changes for each illustration at the pencil sketch stage, and then another free round at the color stage. Note that any additional changes beyond that will incur an added fee.
Can you meet a specific deadline for my book?
Please let me know your deadline when requesting a quote and Iíll do my best to work within your time frame.
Iím nervous about sending you my story before I register a copyright.
Shouldnít I get my copyright first?
It is not necessary to officially register for copyright until your book is completed. According to copyright laws, your work is copyrighted the moment you create it, regardless of officially registering it.
